Bonus Material: Episode 12 - "Rue's Lullaby" by Heart of Gold
“Rue’s Lullaby” is a tragically beautiful song referenced in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling book trilogy, The Hunger Games. The song is a gentle lullaby sung by the story’s protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, to her dying friend. The members of Heart of Gold provided their musical talents to produce and record their own version of the tune. Additionally, the song is included in Episode 12 of The Katniss Chronicles, featuring a melody created by Heart of Gold’s Scott Emerson and sung by Chronicles actress Barbra Dillon.
As Los Angeles indie music darlings, Heart of Gold is a band like no other. Established in 2006 by four amazingly talented musicians [Scott Emerson, Edward LaBarbera, Christopher Spilsbury, and Tiffany LaBarbera (Palmer)], the band fuses folk and rock to create a complex sound that is bursting with emotion. Their recent album, The Burning West, sets a single, encompassing narrative within the hills of Kentucky and the surreal wonderland of Los Angeles.
